Meet Our Clinical Leadership Team

Dr. Tom Cracknell is a medical doctor and entrepreneur driven by a simple belief: everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. With experience across emergency medicine, palliative care, and global health work in West Africa, Tom has seen firsthand how geography does but shouldn’t determine health outcomes.

Tom founded Koyo to harness deep tech for good – connecting Nigerian families with trusted doctors through their phones, making healthcare accessible, affordable, and immediate. His vision is rooted in respectful cross-cultural collaboration and local, human-centered design, working toward universal health coverage across Sub-Saharan Africa.

When he’s not building Koyo, Tom continues his clinical work with the UK’s National Health Service and remains passionate about bridging the gap between innovation and health equity.

Dr. Jesse Kajo is deeply passionate about transforming healthcare across Nigeria. Based at Jos University Teaching Hospital, he specializes in infectious diseases and has led important research on improving access to viral hepatitis screening and treatment throughout the country as well as leading on important research into neglected viral haemorrhagic fevers.

What drives Dr. Kajo is simple: he believes every Nigerian family deserves compassionate care and clear answers. His work with Koyo reflects this commitment – bringing trusted medical advice within reach for families across Nigeria when they need it most. He is a charismatic communicator with a passion for equitable healthcare.

Dr. Mark Fresch brings over 25 years of clinical experience to Koyo, combining frontline medicine with a passion for innovation in healthcare delivery. As Head of Quality, he ensures that Koyo meets the highest standards of medical care while remaining accessible and practical for families.

Mark’s background in expedition and remote medicine—including his work with the Wilderness Medical Society – has shaped his belief that quality healthcare shouldn’t depend on where you are or the resources available at that moment. At Koyo, he’s committed to bringing that same principle to Nigerian families, ensuring trusted medical advice is always within reach, no matter the circumstances.

Dr. Olatunde Olotu is a global health expert specializing in health systems strengthening, emergency response, and public health program management across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific Islands. With experience at organizations including UNICEF, WHO, Relief International, and Save the Children, Tunde brings deep expertise in building sustainable healthcare infrastructure in the most challenging of environments.

His work focuses on leadership and governance, community engagement, and improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations. At Koyo, Tunde applies this frontline experience to ensure our approach is grounded in real-world understanding of health systems challenges in Nigeria – designing solutions that truly meet the needs of Nigerian families seeking accessible, quality healthcare.

Dr. Karen Ubabuike is a compassionate and visionary medical doctor, committed to advancing healthcare, and inspiring purposeful leadership. She combines clinical excellence with a passion for innovation, using her platform to highlight resilience, balance, and impact within and beyond the medical field. Guided by gratitude and purpose, she continues to build a life and career that reflect her belief that medicine is not just a profession but a powerful tool for transformation.

Dr. Bappa Aisha Idris is a compassionate medical doctor dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. She is passionate about advancing equitable access to quality healthcare, empowering people through health education, and strengthening maternal and reproductive health systems. As the State Coordinator for Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS), Dr. Aisha leads initiatives that raise awareness, build capacity, and drive meaningful change in public health.

Dr. Idiovwa Prince O, resident Doctor in Radio-Oncology. Dedicated medical doctor with a strong foundation in Medical Biochemistry (BSc). Passionate about delivering quality patient care and exploring the intersection of medicine and technology. Expertise: Medical Practice, Medical Biochemistry, Radiation Oncology. Interests: Nature, Reading, Traveling and Exploring new cultures.

Dr. Mercy Folayan is an experienced clinician focused on holistic, evidence-based care and clear health communication to support every patient’s wellbeing.

Dr. Joel Haruna is a public health physician and health systems strategist with experience improving healthcare delivery and program outcomes across Nigeria. He has supported large-scale health programs, hospital management, and community-based initiatives focused on access, quality, and patient-centered care. Joel holds an MBBS and an MPH, and his work centers on data-driven decision-making, health policy, and strengthening service delivery systems
