This new partnership will give 50 residents of Umuoji, Anambra State, six months of unlimited access to licensed Nigerian doctors through the KoyoHealth app.
For many people, getting medical advice starts with a journey.
A trip to the hospital. Time away from work. Transport costs. A long wait to see a doctor. And sometimes, the uncertainty of not knowing whether what you’re experiencing actually requires a hospital visit in the first place.
We believe getting answers shouldn’t have to be this difficult.
That’s why KoyoHealth is partnering with the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) USA Inc. to provide 50 residents of Umuoji Community in Anambra State with six months of unlimited access to licensed Nigerian doctors through the Koyo Navigate App.
For these residents, a doctor is now just a phone away.
They can speak with a licensed Nigerian doctor about a symptom or health concern, get guidance on what to do next, understand when they may need to visit a hospital, and receive referrals to appropriate hospitals, laboratories or pharmacies when necessary.
Making the first step to care easier
Our goal with Koyo has never been to replace hospitals or in-person healthcare.
Sometimes, what someone needs is reassurance and a conversation with a doctor. Sometimes, they need to be seen at a hospital. And sometimes, they need a test or medication.
The challenge is knowing which one.
Digital healthcare can help bridge that gap by putting qualified medical guidance closer to people — especially when distance, cost or time might otherwise stop them from seeking help.
This is what makes the partnership with UNAA particularly meaningful to us.
The initiative is part of UNAA’s community development and empowerment efforts and supports Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3): Good Health and Well-being, which calls for better health and wellbeing for everyone.
According to Chief Amb. Dr. Sir Sylvester O. Okafor, President General and Founder of UNAA USA Inc., the partnership reflects UNAA’s commitment to bringing practical solutions closer to communities.
“Access to quality healthcare should not be limited by geography or circumstance. By partnering with Koyo, we are bringing innovative healthcare solutions closer to the people of Umuoji and demonstrating what is possible when community leadership and technology come together.”
Umuoji is part of a bigger question we’re exploring at Koyo:
What could healthcare look like if getting medical guidance was as simple as reaching for your phone?
We’ve already had the opportunity to test this in other communities.
Through our work with TAF Africa Foundation and the Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities, more than 421 Persons with Disabilities have been provided with access to digital healthcare.
Today, Koyo has grown to more than 8,600 users, with over 1,800 doctor consultations recorded in 2026.
Our median doctor first-response time is currently under two minutes, and 70% of patients’ health issues have been satisfactorily resolved within the Koyo service without requiring external care. Among 200 active users surveyed, our average satisfaction score is 91%.
These numbers are encouraging. But for us, the real measure of success is much simpler:
Can someone get the help they need when they need it?
The Umuoji initiative gives us another opportunity to answer that question — and to learn what it takes to make digital healthcare genuinely useful at the community level.
We’re grateful to UNAA USA Inc. for partnering with us to bring this programme to Umuoji. And we’re excited about what this could mean for the future: not just for these 50 residents, but for the possibility of making trusted healthcare easier to reach in communities across Anambra and Nigeria.
